Nilbert is, in fact, not called Nilbert in the real world. The image of Nilbert originated from a tweet posted by @ollyonecat, being Nilberts real name (olly). The caption "ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 못생겼어" roughly transalates to "hahahahahahaha, it's ugly", which is why the image of the cat may also be "ugly cat" or something similar.
Why Nilbert?
Ever since the post, quite a lot of people have used the square version of the image you saw previously as their profile picture, and i myself have done the same. However, i decided to change my profile to match the holiday for fun during Halloween. And then I made one for Christmas, and for thanksgiving, and another, and another... and now i kinda just make them for giggles. I don't know WHY i find the image so captivating, but it can fit essentially any situation you want them to be in. Don't get really surprised if these are underwhelming, because, well, i am not a good editor and just do these for fun
